Don’s interest in herpetology began at a very young age roaming the rural woodlands of Maryland. He began volunteering in the Baltimore Zoo reptile house in the 5th grade and continued through high school. Don has a zoo career spanning 32 years and is the current curator of herpetology for the Bronx Zoo. His forte is collection management and exhibit/facility design. Don is active professionally in the AZA and is the current Komodo Dragon SSP coordinator, Antivenom Index chair and serves on steering committee for the Crocodile Taxon Advisory Group. He has been engaged in a variety of herpetological conservation programs and helped drive conservation funding for key projects. Don joined the IIF board in 2013.
