POSITION TITLE: Communications Coordinator

DIRECTLY RESPONSIBLE TO: Executive Director

POSITION STATUS: Part Time, 20 hours per week

 

GENERAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Support the IIF’s overall marketing and education plan, through social media, website, and public relations outlets. Work with iguana biologists and grant recipients to highlight and promote the mission, goals and conservation and research activities of the IIF. Coordinate website management, brochure updates, and development of an annual report.

 

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES:

Social Media

  • Create content for the IIF’s Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and YouTube pages
  • Coordinate posts from researchers and IIF members and followers to increase awareness of iguana conservation
  • Highlight IIF support successes and current conservation needs
  • Oversee post comments and direct questions to appropriate contacts
  • Create or assist with marketing projects as needed
  • Meet annual metrics goals to ensure an expanding IIF reach

Website Management

  • Manage the iguanafoundation.org WordPress website, to include content, domain registry, and back-end plugins and security
  • Create new layout and migrate the IIF site to a theme that is mobile responsive
  • Work with the IIF Executive Director and Grants Manager to keep website content current
  • Process all e-mail inquiries with answers or redirect as appropriate

Additional Duties

  • Develop and oversee the production of IIF annual report including content and layout
  • Update annual IIF brochure
  • Ensure deadlines are met and projects are completed in a timely manner
  • Evaluate potential for an IIF E-newsletter

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Background in biology is preferred, either in education or work experience
  • Familiarity with iguana conservation issues and species, and preferably the iguana conservation community (ISG and IIF)
  • Proficiency with website management required
  • Marketing experience preferred
  • Strong organizational, verbal, and written communication skills
  • Ability to prioritize effectively
  • Ability to travel and attend IIF and ISG meetings as requested
  • Independent problem-solving skills
  • Detail-oriented personality with the ability to anticipate needs
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Adobe Photoshop, and video editing
